L4D health pack cake

This cake was so much fun. It's complete with blood splatter, gave it a dirty, beat-up look, complete with stitching and zipper pulls! (Ahem, details are very important to me, okay?) :D

Mmm. Zombie green. :D

I happen to absolutely love this cake. :D ::applauds herself::

P.S. Love Left 4 Dead and well, love zombies. Probably why this is amazing.

Also, kids crack me up.
"This looks like real leather. We can't eat leather."
"Why is it zombie colored? Aren't we supposed to be saved from zombies by this health pack?"

Sarah's birthday cake

This was another rush.. Two days notice on this one just like the Pikachu cake. Luckily, it was over a weekend and I had more time here.. By far, my favorite cake. :) Each piece was handcrafted with love..

The above photo is courteous of my friend Dom. I told him I always get inside shots since it seems coloring the cake is my signature trait. He sent this to me via text since I wasn't there. :)

I think I enjoyed this cake because I love Alice in Wonderland.

Not that I'm a nerd or anything...

;)

And because this is my blog.. I just want to mention that I miss fun times..

(me on the right)

..with friends and..

(at Rockfest)

.. my brother. :D

Grandma's birthday cake

This one was actually made from scratch! No box cake mix here. (Hey, don't judge. Makes the job easy. You try making pounds of fondant and then see if you want to make a cake from scratch, too. Yeah.. That's what I thought.) This one was pumpkin spice cake, cream cheese frosting and *caramel* flavored fondant. I was so scared the caramel fondant would be gross but it was perfect. The recipe for this fondant that I used is far better than any others and will from now on be the only one I use.

This picture is slightly old.. and it was taken right after my mom died.
Love you, grandma. :D

David's birthday cake

This is was a spur of the moment -- "can you do this in two days?" Of course, I'm up for any challenge and reply with a simple, "Sure. I'll try." I believe this was the 2nd or 3rd fondant recipe I had tried and nothing I was using was going to mold correctly. The fondant I used on this was tasty but the poor little Pikachu looked like he was just melting. I tried freezing him and nothing seemed to work. So this is what you get...

And the original failure that looked amazing but wouldn't stay together no matter what I did:

And besides the sad Pika that's kind of cute, it distracts you from seeing that I'm mildly crazy. ;)

Beth's birthday cake

I was watching this video about a baker. And she said she enjoys creating cakes more than cooking for people because of the response you get. With food, it's maybe "this is good." You don't get a response like, "This is the coolest thing I've ever seen!" or "Wow!" People appreciate it more when it's a sweet treat that looks great. Yes, I have to agree. Cakes get bigger smiles than meatloaf any day. :)

And in other news, I miss my blue hair that I got rid of Friday...

Baby Lee (baby shower cake)

The Baby Lee cake was the first cake I've done in a long, long time. At least 7 years... and it started something. :) Frosting and fondant made from scratch. I will admit I did use box cake mix (Duncan Hines only!) and the feet are rice krispies. The rainbow colored cake was a slight challenge but if you do agree, the colors turned out great. And the taste of it all.. delicious. :)

All by yours truly, Cieara
